Today's Featured Biography
Joretta Fox Randolph
After graduating from MHS, I enrolled in MSU (was Murray State College then). I earned my BS in Secretarial Science in 1961. In 1965 I earned an MA in Elementary Education (Murray State University). John Randolph and I were married in June 1961; we both taught in Trigg County Schools until we moved to Frankfort in 1968 where John was employed by the State Dept of Education and later became principal of Frankfort High School. I became a stay-at-home mom with our children.
In 1971 we moved back to Murray; along the way, John earned his auctioneer and real estate licenses; I also earned my real estate license, so we worked together selling houses for several years; then we built several houses (steel frame, zero lot-line homes) and with the help of our kids built our own home. Never a dull moment when you work for yourself, hammering, wiring, plumbing, painting, papering. We did a little bit of it all; we moved in our home - 1025 Souhtwood Drive, Murray in 1980. Later John was again employed by Trigg Co School System and retired as Superintendent in 1989.
Our children include, David (’85 MHS Graduate)and his family who live in Ft Mitchell, KY. He teaches accounting in the Williams Collegte of Business at Xavier University. He and his wife, Ann, have two children, John, born in 1995 and Hope, born in 1998. Our daughter, Denise (’86 MHS Graduate) and her husband, Jon, live in the Atlanta area where she taught first grade for several years until she became a mother and is now enjoying her own children, Matthew, born in 2000 and Mark, born in 2004. Our other daughter, KaDonna (’93 Calloway Co. Graduate) lives in Knoxville. After earning her PhD from Univ. TN now works for the USDA Forest Service in the Southern Research Station there in Knoxville.
I’m in the “Grandma phase” aka: “Mimaw Randolph” of my life, which still includes some work; John in investments; office in our home; me his secretary! But the most fun of all -- “Visits with our kids and grandkids” so I look forward to holiday and vacation time!
