I received my degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue in 1978. Married Jim McFatridge in 1976 (I was 19. Who now thinks that 19 is too young to get married?) and divorced him in 1992.
Married Phelps Klika in 1993. We've hiked across the Grand Canyon 4 times. This year I am going by myself and he is going to stay home and watch the kids.
Have 2 adopted daughters, Piper (born 1999) and Halsey (born 2004), both from China. I am often asked if I am their grandmother. That only annoys me if itís morning and I havenít had my Starbucks yet.
In the category of classmate coincidences, Brenda Louthain ran into Phelps and me (literally) in the intersection of Fall Creek and Keystone in Indianapolis. In her defense she was a passenger, not the driver.
We live on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Phelps is also a Civil Engineer. We've been having the best time--with each other and with our kids. I never would have thought that I'd be 50 and going to see the Wiggles in concert.
