Today's Featured Biography

Linnea Lindahl Burns

After graduating from Miami of Ohio in 1965 I moved to Maryland where I taught 2nd grade for 2 years. During that time I met my husband, Joe who was at the Naval Academy. Shortly after his graduation we were married and moved to Pensacola, FL. Joe went into the pilot program and flew P3's. We moved every 2-3 years i the beginning, mainly on the west coast and Hawaii. I followed on a few of Joe's deployments to the Far East, which was fascinating. We did have a tour in Brunswick, ME then in 1982 to Virginia Beach where we have lived for the past 30 years. During all of this we managed to have 4 children. Joe and his son, live in Kansas City, Mike and Kyle live in Virginia Beach with their two sons. PJ and Leah are in Charleston, SC and Kelly and Dave with their son in Richmond, VA.
Joe retired from the Navy in 1990 and spent the time until retirement, this past December, developing wargames for the military. I am still working 3 days a week as the "CFO" of a gift shop. Still play bridge, read as much as I can, and recently took up mah-jongg. Joe and I both enjoy spending as much time with our grandsons as we can.
We have been very fortunate over the past few years to make many trips to Europe and we hope to continue with more trips both in the states and oversees in the near future.
It has been a great 50 years since graduation, and the years growing up in St. Charles are very memorable. Very few understand the relationships we all have. It's comforting to know that we have a lot of the same good memories from the past. I am very thankful for a wonderful family now and for the friends from the class of 1961 who continue to be such an important part of my life.
