Today's Featured Biography
Theresa Greutman Tynan
Yes, after a long "full week" at Bob Jones University, I came back home and took a job with Federal Kemper Insurance! I worked there for 4 years. I loved the job, but didn't like having to sit all day! Then, I got a job at Hickory Point Mall, and helped to open the Bergner's store. Larry and I got married in 1976. We just celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary! Not only is that a miracle for the number of years it is, but also because he is a cancer survivor. In 1979, six weeks after we found out we were expecting our first child; Larry was diagnosed with acute leukemia. The next couple of years were a mix of extreme hardship, but also extreme joy. By the way, I didn't continue working outside the home after all of that! I had plenty of responsibility though; raising a family and helping Larry to gain his strength back after spending several weeks, over a 2 year period, in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. After Larry was in remission, the doctors gave him a 50% chance of living past the next 18 months. We grew so much closer to the Lord through all of that. God's Word tells us to bring our troubles to Him and leave them there. That's what we've tried to do. Not only has Larry been in excellent health since then, but he never had to take any medication after attaining remission. To complete the family, Alissa was born 3 1/2 years after our son, Nicholas, was born. I tried a couple of part time jobs, but it really didn't work out very well alongside Larry's jobs, having to work swing shifts. I kept very busy at church, and still do. I've been the organist at Riverside Baptist Church for several years now. Larry and I both sing specials and sing in the choir. I take the minutes for music committee meetings. I help in the church kitchen, and I love being a guest speaker in their Awana program. I LOVE to bake/cook, and what's more fun than trying a new recipe? LOL Larry and I have learned a lot through DIY remodeling projects around our home. For a few years, we even had a part-time professional photography business. We took wedding pictures, family pictures and sports teams pictures. Larry just finished organizing the 6th annual golf outing at our church, and this year it was also a benefit for a Decatur education foundation. I help with what needs to be done. Larry's day job is with Meda Pharmaceuticals. He went back there after 7 years with ADM.
Our son, NIck, graduated from Cedarville University in Ohio, got married a few weeks later to a gal as equally gifted in music, and now is the worship/music leader for an Indianapolis church. He also loved sports, so he kept us hopping being involved in both! Alissa saw how busy we were with him, and almost revolted at any busyness! It was a good balance. She loved her books though, and could read before entering kindergarten. That might explain why she is an administrative assistant for an adult reading program now, and loves it!
We are the proud grammy and grampy of Ian Nicholas Tynan, who will turn 3 in a few days. I better not get started talking about the joy that he brings, or I'll have to enter a new identity and start another page!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
