Today's Featured Biography
Lyman Hall
Wow, I can't believe it has been 20 years since we graduated. Here's a quick dump of what I have been up to:
- 1988 – 1989: Went to CSI for a year, studying Pre-Engineering
- 1989 – 1990: Spent a year in Virginia doing training for the National Guard
- 1990 – 1991: Spent a year in Mackay, ID working for my Uncle doing construction. Mackay is a beautiful place. I took up Archery hunting and actually managed to shoot an elk. After spending over a day packing it out, I have not had the same passion for hunting since… If any of you have spent time hiking in the mountains around Mackay, you know what I am talking about - think Mt. Borah.
- 1991 – 1993: Spent 2 years in Brazil on an LDS mission
- 1993: Met my beautiful wife Liz, and we got married in the fall of 1993. I still can’t believe she agreed to marry me, but we have been extremely happy for the last 15 years.
- 1993 – 1998: Did the Northwest college tour: Ricks College, University of Idaho, BSU, and finally BYU. Long story, but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone… Graduated from BYU in 1998 with a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering. During that time we also had our first 3 children (Kaleb, Anndee, and Ashlee). I actually don’t remember much about those 5 years. Between working 30 – 40 hours a week, going to school full-time, and family… Wow, that was crazy!
- 1998 – 2001: Moved to Boise (actually Nampa) and took a job at Extended Systems Inc as an engineer.
- 2001 – 2005: Changed jobs and started working for Agilent Technologies.
- 2005 – 2006: Spent a year in India with my family starting up a development center for my company. Interesting experience, but would take much more time than I have here to relate.
- 2006 – 2008: Our business unit was purchased by Marvell Semiconductor in 2006. I am way too busy managing a bunch of engineers. I also travel way too much, both internationally and domestically. Last year I logged over 100,000 flight miles. Needless to say, my idea of a vacation at this point is NOT to fly someplace.
We really love living in the Boise area. It is a great place to raise a family and there is so much to do here. We enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. Recently some of the guys at work have gotten me to try Mountain Biking. It is a lot of fun and the Boise foothills are beautiful, but is also very hard for an old, fat man like me. It will be great to see everyone this summer.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
