Dear Classreport Users: We are one of the premiere social networking websites dating back to 2003. We are a small, family owned and operated business with less than 15 staff but freely host over a million class websites. Classreport holds a special place in the hearts of our users: Bravos. We are funded solely through your voluntary contributions. Despite our small size we have the same costs as any other site: servers, security, software, and staff. So now we ask for your support. If everyone reading this gave $15, our fundraiser would be over in one day. If Classreport is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online and ad-free for another year. Thank you. Click here to chip in now.

Today's Featured Biography

Mary Stiles Wright

After we graduated from FMHS I headed for University of Florida (GOOOOOOOOOOO GATORS!!!) where I graduated with a degree in education in 1980. Came home to Ft. Myers and taught in the federal Migrant Program (basically ESOL these days) for a couple of years then 3rd grade for 1 year. Got married to Richard (whom I met at UF) in 1983 and we're looking forward to celebrating 25 years together in 2008. Can't believe it's been that long. Richard graduated from UF in 1984 and we moved to Tampa where he worked for GTE. I was a desparate housewife for a year after we moved then found a niche in Mortgage Servicing. I worked for 3 mortgage companies over the next 13 or so years and loved every minute of the pressure cooker environment we lived in. Weekends were devoted to traveling around the state (or hosting "sleep-overs" at our house) visiting with our fellow Gator friends and generally having the time of our lives. Every Fall we were sittin' in the Swamp and hanging out at Joe's Deli with 1,000 other rabid Gator fans. We've had season tix since UF built the North endzone and have kept them even after our move to Georgia.

We were blessed with our son Connor in 1995 and he's sent us in another direction focus-wise. Richard was given the opportunity to transfer to Atlanta in 1998 to work for GTE wireless (now Verizon) in their fledgling IT department. We decided it was time for me to become a stay-at-home mom once we moved and it was the best thing that could've happened. I LOVE it!

These days my focus is on Connor and his activities. While he was in elementary school I served in pretty much every position (at one time or another) for our PTO, volunteered anywhere and everywhere and did all the laminating for the school (imagine those laminated mom's day cards many of you have received x1000!). It was a blast! Middle school is a different experience but still a hoot to be involved with. Connor is only in 6th grade this year but he's plunged right into the activity tunnel and we're both loving every minute of it.

Connor started studying Songham Taekwondo in 1st grade (he was 6) and is now a 2nd degree black belt and occasionally helps teach classes. Many of our weekends are spent traveling to tournaments mostly in the southeast. We've made some wonderful friends from all over the country and it's fun to watch Connor catch up with friends at National & International level tournaments. Last year Connor was Georgia State Champ in forms and weapons. I've spend almost as much time at his karate school as I have at home over the last 6 years, but it's been worth every minute and we're looking forward to bigger and better things from him as the years go forward.

When we aren't on the road to tournaments we love throwing BBQ parties and feeding all our friends. Richard has a professional-size smoker and he'll fire it up every chance he gets. We have found that having a chance to sit around the smoker really breaks down boundaries between people and is a fabulous way to make new friends. Until Connor took up karate we even entered a few contests and still keep in touch with some of the folks we met. Smoking meat is a slow process but that's the way we do things in the south and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Guess that's about all for now. Sure wish we could be at the reunion but Connor has a tournament in Atlanta that weekend. I'll miss seeing everyone and catching up. Maybe by the time our 35th or 40th rolls around our time will be distributed differently and I'll be able to join the fun. Until then, party on, and, GO GATORS!!!!
