Dr. William Voorhees Director of Revenue and Tax for the City of Baltimore. He has been instrumental in developing a Ten Year Plan for the City to improve the school system, lower taxes, reduce blight and continue the decrease in crime, with the goal of reversing the City's population decline and growing the population by 10,000 families.
He has held teaching positions at University of North Florida, Arizona State University, Tempe; John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York, New York and at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
He received his Ph.D. in Public Management & Finance, with a minor in cognitive science at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Indiana University, Bloomington- GO BIG RED! He also holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the School of Management at SUNY, a Master of Public Administation from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University and a Bacelor of Arts from the University of South Florida.
Dr. Voorheees's research has focused on public finance. He has published several articles on forecasting. His current work includes looking at the Florida property tax system and the effect of Amendment 1 on Florida taxpayers.
Prior to teaching, Dr. Voorhees worked for 20 years in the health care informatics field, designing, and implementing hospital budgeting, accounting, ADT, and patient care systems throughout the US.
When not teaching, Dr. Voorhees enjoys traveling. Past travels have included diving the Red Sea in the Middle East, mushing through the Brooks Range in Alaska, railroading through Europe and summering with his wife's family in Southeast Asia.
