Today's Featured Biography
Rex Ballard
After graduating George Washington High School, I went to Loretto Heights College, taking 1 year out to take business courses at Arapahoe Community college. I returned to Loretto Heights and graduated in 1979.
I managed theaters for a few years, then went into high technology sales, selling some of the first Video Cassette Recorders, the first home computers, and the earliest business desktop computers.
In 1981, I switched to programming. I married Leslie Hoffert (a graduate of Cherry Creek HS), and in 1982 we moved to Rochester New York where I worked as a software engineer doing some of the early work on the internet, bringing UNIX to commercial applicatinos, and creating 911 emergency dispatch systems.
I came back to Colorado in 1987 and worked for Federal Express, working on the SuperTracker and the COSMOS-IIB Project, which won the Malcom Baldridge Quality award in 1990.
Leslie and I divorced in May of 1990 so that she could marry Jerry Hoffert. She and the kids still live in Colorado Springs.
In 1991, I took the Landmark Forum and subsequent courses and out of that program I took on a project to make the Internet available to the General Public, working with IBM, several news publishers including Dow Jones, Standard & Poor's, McGraw-Hill, and a mailing list which eventually grew to 8,000 publishers. Early subscribers included Netscape, Lycos, InfoSeek, and many other publishers who were unknown at the time.
In 1996 I started working as an IT Architect doing e-Business Integration for numerous clients. In 1998, I joined IBM as an IGS consultant where I have continued to work on e-Bussiness integration projects for numerous clients.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
