Today's Featured Biography
Charlotte Henry Khan
Education: Parks School of Business, Community College of Denver, University of Phoenix
Employment: IBM/Boulder & Denver - Clerical and Administrative Secretarial positions to Editorial Assistant to Information Developer (technical writer).
Retired from IBM after 30 years, then worked for Denver Public Schools in various capacities, Bilingual/ASL, School-to-Career Initiative for Manual High School encompassing all Manual Zone elementary and middle feeder schools.
Self Employment: Sixteen years in business, a full-service travel agency with contract agents.
Personal: Married three years after high school, which lasted nine years. Single for ten, then married for 27 years to my present British, Indian-born husband.
No children from either marriage.
Volunteer: Denver Museum of Nature and Science - A docent in various permanent and visiting temporary exhibits, last year awarded gift for over twenty years of service.
Past Time Interests: Traveller since childhood, as father worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Desiring to experience adventures beyond the U.S. I had travelled to more than 33 countries before opening a travel business. After retiring from IBM, my love of travel along with the urgings of friends and family, I opened my travel agency in 1996. Through the years I have attended numerous classes and travelled to many travel conventions around the U.S. and Canada. Our agency's specialty was Family Reunions-at -Sea. Presently, I maintain my travel credentials, no longer selling to the public but only selling "self-travel". So far I have travelled to four continents and over 40 countries.
From youth and young adulthood, besides travel, I have always been interested in the community. I was a civil-rights advocate attending NAACP National Conventions in Washington, DC. and Denver, taking part in sit-ins, and picketing at home. After those activities I was later baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Today, I am still very much interested in the community working actively within this JW org.
