After graduating from PHS, I attended the California Maritime Academy, graduating with Bs in Marine Engineering and a commission as Ensign USNR.
I sailed as a ship’s engineering officer on government and commercial vessels, worldwide for 15 years. From there, I moved into shore-side ship management with SeaLand Service in 1990. At SeaLand I managed vessels and new ship construction projects until 2001.
Next I joined the development department of SpecTec, a Norway based software firm, and developed vessel operations and maintenance software until 2005. Finally, I founded my own firm, Rambeau Pacific Services where I currently consult on ship reliability, fuel economy and environmental compliance issues.
I raised two girls, currently 22 and 20. I live aboard a 54’ steel yacht which I converted myself from a fishing trawler. My current wife and I are located in Puget Sound but plan to set out for the tropics next year.
