Pete Duchow Peter K Duchow
BIOGRAPHY
Peter King Duchow has spent his entire professional life in the entertainment industry. At the age of 27, he was the International Sales Promotion Manager of Capitol Records. The highlight of his tenure at Capitol was organizing and conducting the first International Sales and Merchandising Symposium for the recording industry. This position based him in Paris, France.
He later joined Revue Productions, now Universal Studios, where he was assistant to the Studio Vice-President for three years. He then became an agent with the Ashley-Steiner Agency and later as vice-president of the television department when the firm expanded to become International Famous Agency. The television department of IFA is credited with packaging such television series as "Dr. Kildare,” "Man From Uncle", "The Twilight Zone", "Mission Impossible", "Mannix", "Star Trek", and "Get Smart".
In the early 1970's, he joined Eisenbach-Greene eventually becoming a partner and vice-president of the prestigious literary agency. In 1979, he left to accept a position as senior vice-president and head of television development, packaging, and production for Sherwood Productions.
In 1983, Mr. Duchow formed Garner-Duchow Productions with partner, James Garner. As co-executive producer of the award winning two-hour movie "Promise" presented by Hallmark Hall of Fame, Peter Duchow received an Emmy Award along with the Humanitas Prize, The Christopher Award, The George Foster Peabody Award, The Golden Globe Award, The Media Access Award, The Ohio State Award, The Media Award, and The International Television Movie Festival Award. "Promise" is currently the most highly acclaimed movie in television history.
Garner-Duchow Productions' second film, "My Name is Bill W.," was also presented by The Hallmark Hall of Fame. In the Fall of 1989, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences bestowed the high honor of seven Emmy nominations for "My Name is Bill W.” An Emmy was awarded to James Woods for his performance as Best Actor. Additionally, "My Name is Bill W." received The NAADAC (The National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors) Special Appreciation Award, the prestigious Scott Newman Award, The Christopher Award and nominations for two Golden Globe Awards in the best dramatic special category and best actor in a dramatic special, the Humanitas Certificate and the Humanitarian Award presented by the International Television Movie Festival.
Mr. Duchow states, "My objective is to make the best possible pictures that will hopefully make a contribution to peoples' lives."
In the Fall of 1991, Mr. Duchow completed "Finding the Way Home" for television under his own banner of Peter K. Duchow Enterprises, Inc. in association with MGM. A gentle story of a small town retail businessperson whose mid-life crisis is resolved as he finds new direction and purpose in the midst of a Latino migrant farm community. "Finding the Way Home" has received The Cultural Philanthropy Award for significant multi-ethnic contributions and the Best Picture Award and Best Actor Award (George C. Scott) at The Umbria Film Festival in Italy in April, 1992, and Honorable Mention at The Imagen Awards.
Mr. Duchow's latest Peter K. Duchow Enterprises, Inc. film, titled "Obsessed," a two-hour film examining obsessive-compulsive behavior starring William Devane and Shannen Doherty aired September 27, 1992, on ABC.
Peter King Duchow has established an outstanding reputation as a packager of all types of television programming. He is a careful audience analyst with a strong grasp for knowing what will entertain and be meaningful to the public. In 1989, Mr. Duchow was inducted into the Movies for Television Hall of Fame.
In the fall of 2001 Mr. Duchow sold to World International Network “Illusion” his original screen story, The screenplay is currently in development for production in the winter of 2004. Duchow will serve as Executive Producer of the film.
