Dear Classreport users: We are one of the premiere social networking websites dating back to 2003. We are a small, family owned and operated business with less than 15 staff but freely host over a million class websites. Classreport holds a special place in the hearts of our users: Bravos. We are funded solely through your voluntary contributions. Despite our small size we have the same costs as any other site: servers, security, software, and staff. So now we ask for your support. If everyone reading this gave $15, our fundraiser would be over in one day. If Classreport is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online and ad-free for another year. Thank you. Click here to chip in now.

Today's Featured Biography

Jim Frame

After high school I enrolled at Berkeley, but family life took some rough turns and I just didn't have the heart to stay in school. I wandered away from campus one day in the spring of '72 and never went back. Shortly thereafter I landed in Davis where my sister, brother and a bunch of cousins were living. I then spent a few (okay, maybe more than a few) "lost" years trying to figure out what to do with my life. I bounced around among a number of different jobs in the process, and in '77 got a job on a survey crew with a Sacramento surveying and engineering firm. I started out on the bottom rung, and at first it was just a job. But as my head started to clear I found that I liked it. I worked my way up through a few employers, getting licensed as a land surveyor in 1984. In '93 I went out on my own (for all the wrong reasons, but that's another story), and I've been self-employed ever since.

1993 was a watershed year for another reason: I met Kari, my wife-to-be. We married in '96 (first marriage for both of us), and son Peter was born in '98. We were going for 2, but Kari decided that she didn't want to have another kid at 45, so Peter is sans siblings.

I work from a home office, so my days move pretty seamlessly between work and family matters. Advances in technology allow me to operate with a single part-time employee, which gives my schedule tremendous flexibility while still allowing me to service large government and institutional clients. Business has been down the last couple of years, but I still think I have the best job in the world.

Peter, now 13, plays on a baseball travel team, so baseball is a major focus of our lives. Having lost pretty much any interest in sports during my misspent youth, the whole baseball thing represents a big turnaround for me. As the team treasurer, I've gotten way more involved in the game than I ever imagined, both from the management side and the spectator aspect. I still don't have much interest in pro sports, but I love to watch the kids play.

My "other jobs" are serving on the boards of directors of a couple of local non-profits, as well as on the city's Telecommunications Commission.

Aside from youth baseball, our preferred leisure activity is hiking the high Sierra. We've been spending a week or so in the tent cabins at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge since Peter was 2, using the lodge as a base camp for day hikes. Last summer we added a bonus, at Peter's insistence: after our week in Yosemite we hiked up to the top of Mount Whitney. I've never before encountered a trail that goes so relentlessly up for so many miles, but it was well worth the effort. The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed spectacular views from the top that we'll remember for the rest of our lives (or until Alzheimer's sets in, whichever comes first).

I look forward to reconnecting (and, in many cases, just plain connecting I'm afraid I wasn't very present during high school) with my classmates.
