Today's Featured Biography
Jay Sterin
Dr. J. Charles Sterin, Collegiate Associate Professor is an award-winning television writer-producer-director, and a communcation and media consultant in private practice. He is a full-time Professor of Communication Studies and Media Law for the University of Maryland University College. Dr. Sterin has served as the CEO of a number of national and international media production companies, and has produced over 60 hours of television documentary programs, most prime-time releases, and numerous industrial, museum and educational video projects.
Dr. Sterin is a prolific writer who has served as the sole or lead writer on all of the television/film projects he has undertaken including serving as the lead writer on 26 dramatic television screenplays and all of the 60 hours of documentary programs that he has produced and directed. As an investigative television journalist, he has won wide praise and numerous national and international awards for his exposes on government and military errors and cover-ups.
Dr. Sterin is also an accomplished photographer and cinematographer and has served as the Director of Photography on many of the network television programs that he has produced and directed.
In early 1999 Sterin returned to active university teaching serving as artist-in-residence and adjunct faculty for a number of Washington/Baltimore academic institutions until accepting an exclusive faculty appointment at the University of Maryland University College. As a ranked Faculty member of UMUC, Dr. Sterin has thus far authored two very popular courses "Communication Theory" and "Communication and the Law" and teaches numerous sections of each of these courses on an ongoing basis.
Dr. Sterin splits his professional activities between university teaching, writing, and media consulting, as well as working on commissioned television documentaries snd commercial media projects. He and his wife, Pauline, have a home and combined office/studio on a six-acre compound once part of a historic pre-Revolutionary War plantation near the Chesapeake Bay in southern Maryland.
