Today's Featured Biography
Liz Kinman Wright
Well, I went to Orangewood Elementary from Kindergarten to 8th grade...just barely passed thanks to Ms. Barkin, she really didn't like me. Went to Washington High for almost 3 years, but got pregnant..oops! Met a great guy when I was 17 and married him in 1986...still together :) We have 3 kids and 3 grand kids.
For those of you who knew me, my little brother Tom or my older brother Brad, I should let you know that Brad was tragically murdered in 2001. It was a very hard time for all of us. He was killed on September 2 and we had just found out 2 days before the World Trade Center and Pentagon were destroyed. It was really hard to grieve for so many people while going through our own loss.
Tom is doing great! He is married and has a beautiful daughter and wife....he has a terrific job and life:)
Up until about 4 years ago, we were ranching (yep, my husband is a true cowboy, I should sy 'was'), in Arizona, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska and Colorado. But after all the hard work and breaking colts to ride, my husbands back was pretty damaged...so we left ranching and started raising our own horses.
Having a very nice stud horse, we needed to get him on the internet...it was 1998 and we started with a simple web page and then had to figure out how to get people to see it...from that came me doing web design and my husband, KC, taught himself programming and coding...so between the two of us, we have built our own internet advertising business :)
We eventually sold all the horses (23 of them) and started doing the internet thing full time. When we were doing pretty good, my husband asked me where I wanted to live most of all...I told him Steamboat Springs Colorado a town we used to shop in when we were ranching in the Rockies of Colorado. We love it there....beautiful Winters and even prettier spring and summers! Well...then came election time in 2004. I had decided that id George Bush won the election, we were leaving the United States...so, on November 3, 2004, we were on the phone with the Mexican consulate in Denver making plans to leave. We sold all our belongings, except computers, clothes and keepsakes, and packed the car completely full (including my cat I can't live without) and left Steamboat Springs on December 17th and arrived in Cancun on our wedding anniversary, December 23rd. It was a change of a lifetime to say the least.
We found a wonderful place on the beach and lived there peacefully enjoying the Caribbean ocean and quiet life until hurricane Wilma....hurricane Emily had done very minor damage before, but Wilma was a major disaster. In the US, you didn't get to see all the actual damage done in Cancun...it was kept very quiet as not to scared away tourists, but anything on or near the beach was devastated. Hotels in the hotel zone were completely demolished. The inside of our place wasn't damaged to bad (thanks to plywood and LIQUID NAILS). But the grounds, pool, surroundings were gone. Cancun, being a tourist destination was home to people from all over Mexico, that worked at the hotels, restaurants etc...they now had no jobs or income and as everyone knows, most of Mexico is very low income anyway. So Cancun changed, the people changed and we decided to move elsewhere in Mexico until Cancun rebuilds and gets back on it's feet.
Now peaceful and quiet again...until next hurricane season, atleast we live 13 miles from the ocean this time :) We are now helping a Cuban friend start a foundation to help Cubans in Mexico and also are going to be starting an ecologicaly friendly hotel on the beach with the same friend.
We are just hoping that the US will be a place we will want to go back to after the next 3 years with GB as president.
If you are an old friend or aquaintance, let me know how you are doing... email me (liz at perlmountain dot com) :)

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
