Today's Featured Biography
Paul McWilliams
After graduation I worked at the Jack in the Box that was on 19th Ave. and Bethany Home Rd. for a few months. Then I went to work for Truly Nolen Pest Control. I had the Buckeye and Gila Bend routes. In Sept. 1979 I joined the Air Force and began my 12 years of active duty. I started out in the Transportation Squadron (Motor Pool). However at Charleston AFB, SC I worked on the Flight Line and towed aircraft. In October 1981 I was sent to Cancun Mexico during the Economic Summit and I towed every Presidential aircraft including Air Force 1. At that event I personnaly met Alexander Haig. In November of the same year (1981) I married Kathy Chismar, she is from Bayshore, NY. She is quite a woman. We raised 2 children and now she is a 2nd Grade teacher in South Central Los Angeles. We celebrated 25 years of marriage this year. While in the Air Force, around 1985, I cross-trained into Satellite Communications. I was stationed at Onizuka AFB (formerly Sunnyvale AFS) in Sunnyvale, CA as well as did a 1 year tour in South Korea (Osan AFB/Camp Humphries).
In 1991, after 12 years, I left the Air Force and went to work for Stanford Telecommunications Inc. as a Systems Engineer on the Satellite Comm. equipment I worked on while I was in the Air Force. I really loved my job because I was able to travel all around the world. I've been to Germany, Belgium, and my favorite Hawaii. All these places had the equipment that needed my personnal attention (haha). ITT Industries, Systems Division purchased STel in 1999 so then I became an ITT employee, also the Sunnyvale CA office was shut down so we moved to Colorado Springs, CO. I was appointed as the Program Manager of the SATCOM systems I have worked with and now it became important to grow business and make $$$$ (corporate goals....yipee)....I enjoyed the job however my family missed California...So I took an opportunity with ITT to work on the Deep Space Network (DSN) contract in Monrovia, CA. We provide Operations & Maintenance of the DSN network consisting of various Satellite Communication sites in Goldstone CA, Canberra Australia, and Madrid Spain for the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL).
Thats been the goings on since graduation (short version), who knows what the future holds....
