My family moved to Watson Chapel in December, 1975 when dad became the Senior ROTC instructor at WCHS. We moved a lot while I was growing up and making new friends every few years was always a challenge for me. I am thankful for each friend at WCHS and seeing each of you at the 30th reunion was a very special treat.
After high school, I went to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and had several classes with the great Kenny Willis. The following year, Kenny and I transferred to the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) where we roomed together until he graduated in 1982.
In 1983 I graduated from UCA with a B.S. in Geography and went to work for the state as a cartographer (map maker). I truly enjoyed my work, but knew I had sold myself short by "settling" for the path of least resistance in my degree choice.
I lived in Pine Bluff and met my future wife Donna (McCoy) when she came back to Pine Bluff after graduating from Ouachita Baptist. We were good friends for several years - then we realized we were the last two single people in Watson Chapel and decided we should start dating.
We married in 1988 and stayed in Watson Chapel until 1990. Donna got a teaching position in Bryant, Arkansas and we moved there in the summer of 1990.
Donna got a great opportunity in 1992 to go to work for a pharmaceutical company in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I took the opportunity to go back to pursue my dream of an engineering degree.
While I was in school, God blessed Donna and me with a precious daughter, Molly.
In 1995 I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. I returned to work for the state where I have been since.
In 1997, God again blessed us, this time with a son, Matthew.
