My name is Atonia Rodgers I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. I spent the first five years of my life in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from high school in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I have five brothers and five sisters. My youngest sister passed away January 18, 2006. During that very difficult time for my family and I, my classmates was very supportive and encouraging. And by the love and grace of God we are able to move on with our lives. I've been a homemaker for the past three years. I have served as President 1 year, Vice President 2 years and budget committee member 3 years for the Warren County PTO. I have just been nominated to become the Vice president of Vicksburg Intermediate School. I am so elated and the committee have a lot of work that needs to be done immediately. I worked at River Region Hospital for five years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. My job was to rehabilitate patients back to their highest functioning level and help them to get back to their normal activities of daily living. Also, I am presently a bible school teacher for pre-school through Kindergarten and assist with my husband's home bible studies twice a month on Saturdays.
I've been married for 20 years to my high school sweetheart. My husband served in the United States Navy for six years in San Diego, California and the last year in Corpus Christi, Texas. We have three boys: Andrew II, Darius and Brendan. The boys are always keeping me on my toes with football, band, choir, art classes and reading fairs. My husband attends the School of Religious Studies and works as EMT and Firefighter for the city of Vicksburg, in Mississippi.
As a wife and mother time is very precious to me. Getting my degree on line will help me in my career and spend time with my family on the weekends. I'm pursuing a degree in early education. That has been a dream of mine since I started working in 1993 as a substitute teacher in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Phoenix University is giving me flexible hours to pursue my education and take care of my family. My family and I are able to go on vacations. In March 2006 my husband and I are going to Hot Springs, Arkansas. My family and I can hardly wait. It's giving me a whole new look on life and helping me to get the education I want.
Everyone is looking forward to starting a new and exciting school year. My children is starting off with a great year and so have I. Learning has helped me to look at things differently and in a broad prospective. I am looking to give back to my classes as well as gaining an opportunity to grow and become more productive in my community.
