Today's Featured Biography
Ricky Nooner
After High School, I learned Japanese and served a 2 year mission in Tokyo, Japan for my church. After I returned, I joined the Air Force and spent the next 5 1/2 years at Hill AFB in Utah and Hahn AB in Germany. While in the Air Force, I worked on F-16 computers and avionics. I also worked for a company writing video games for both arcade systems and the Amiga computer.
After leaving the Air Force in 1990, I moved back to Arkansas and worked at Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville. Sometime in 1995, I left my job to design and build one of the first Internet providers in Arkansas. I was the Chief Engineer for CSW Net and brought the Internet to many small towns throughout Arkansas.
In 1998, I had the opportunity to work for a much more ambitious startup, Level 3 Communications, that was building a large Internet backbone across the world. I still work for that company today. I hold several patents due to my work for them. They are responsible for my leaving Arkansas and moving to Colorado where I live now.
I have been married twice. I married a woman from Hawaii in 1985 and we had three wonderful children together. Unfortunately, that marriage didn't last. In 2002, I came back to my roots and married a friend, Belinda (Hasty) grad '83, from High School. We have been very happy together.
My oldest son, Jonathon, is a grad student in Physics at Clemson where he also teaches. My daughter, Keiko, lives in the Colorado mountains with friend and my youngest son, Aaron, is still living at home with us and studying Chinese at the University of Colorado.
While we miss our friends and family in Arkansas, we also love living in Colorado and spending our weekends off-roading and camping in the mountains.
Both Belinda (French Horn) and I (Trumpet) play in a local orchestra and at our church.
