Butch Bennett

I did the executive thing only to find emptiness and disappointment instead of the "American Dream" at the top. What I did find was stress, empty promises, and loyalty, based upon... "whats in it for me." I sold a very profitable business and moved to Oregon in 1980. I bought a very small gentleman farm (remember "Green Acres?) and enjoyed plowing the ground. I soon purchased a hardware store that was closed in this small town and put it back on the map. All along, searching for some kind of explanation for life. So many searching, so VERY few. . . finding. In my search, I found its true source. All mankind is created to love, serve, and be loved by his and her Creator. Fulfillment comes when the focus is not ones self, rather, loving and reaching out to others. Self focus only brings about selfishness. Look around at the world and it's practices today. Are you satisfied? I Went to College in Portland. Graduating after 5.5 years from Multnomah Bible College. As I Pastored two churches, I ran into stuffed shirts, and a fancy for religiousness rather than a fervor for friendship and an intimate relationship with God. My heart, I wanted every person who walked into my church to feel welcomed, loved, needed, and necessary! I wanted to start a blue jean, come as u are church with up beat contemporay music and good teaching. My wife and I started Freedom Christian Fellowship in our living room Oct 1999. It has grown quickly. We were able to Purchase our own building a year ago which now enjoys its own book store and Coffee shop. This year we have formed a Christian elementary school with grades K-8th, looking to expand it as the need arises. I am looking forward to what this brings. At 51, I am truly enjoying life as I watch people's lives changed by the love of God and one another! There are a lot of lost, broken,hurting, and disolutioned people in our world today. Society as a whole has quicky forgotten grace, forgiveness, and the call to love your neighbor as yourself. Today, many of us do not even know who our neighbor is. It's my heart and desire to give back. I once spent the majority of my energy taking. To those of you who might happen upon this bio, do not be discouraged. . .be encouraged! One person. . . can still make a difference! America's freedom enables you to freely love, give, and serve.
