Today's Featured Biography
Michelle Szymanski Koch
After graduation, I spent some time trying to figure out what I really wanted to do. After a few years of working behind a desk, I found my calling in hairdressing. Two years after beginning my career, I met the man who would then become my husband. We married in July of 1996 in Big Lake, Alaska. In early 1997, we made the big decision to move to Michigan to begin his professional boxing career. 5 1/2 months after moving there, we came back home to Alaska because we could not bear to be away from home any longer. He continued his boxing career, and I went back to work for Regis Hairstylists. July 26, 1998, my world changed again, but this time it was something I could never have planned for. Cody had been killed in Michigan, and I found myself a widow at the early age of 29. 2 weeks later, I hit the big 3-0... I wasn't sure what was coming next. It took some time, but after a couple of years I was back on my feet, and helped to bring the first Great Clips salon to Alaska. It has now been 8 years since I lost Cody, and 5 years since my getting involved with the Great Clips salons, and I have to say that it has been one hell of a ride! I now have 5 Great Clips salons that keep me VERY busy, and I am hoping to open 1-2 more over the next year. I also work as a trainer for the Great Clips, Inc., and every year I attend the convention in Minneapolis and I sing the national anthems for America and for Canada. I guess you could say that the awards show for Great Clips doesn't start without me! In my off time, I like to play with my dog, Max, and work in my yard. I bought my first house 2 years ago in Anchorage. I love travelling to Central America, especially San Pedro, Belize. I try to go at least once a year. Cody and I never had children, and there are some days that I regret that. I am still single, enjoying life and all that it provides me, and fortunate to have such a wonderful family and great friends to enrich my life.
