BOUNCED EMAILS
UPDATED OCTOBER 16, 2007
After doing a Bulk Email recently I received some emails that are undeliverable (or classmates have blocked my email address) and they bounce back to me. Please keep your contact info current. Emails are the best way for me to contact you and the most cost efficient as well..no postage and long distance charges. (Though your address and phone are still useful to have.) Your email is either hidden from the classmates and only you and the class administrator (me) see it or you can show it to all. The following classmates have emails bouncing back so if they can update their info that would help me a lot. It will keep you updated on any gatherings, future reunions and alumni news etc. If you only want to know about big reunion get togethers let me know. I will make note and only email you at that time.

I've been getting a little pressure to fill something in for my bio, so I'm finally, spinelessly caving in.
Okay, what happened after high school? I hung around Vancouver for 4 years, taking biology at UBC. After grad, I took a summer job in the Yukon, and met Kerry there. Living in plywood cabins, between the Alaska Highway, Kluane Lake, and a bush-plane airstrip leaves plenty of time to get to know each other. And we've been together ever since, though we did spend some time in different cities while Kerry was in grad school at Guelph and I was at Univ of Saskatchewan and Univ of Alberta. Making the transition from living on the coast to becoming a flatlander has been fun, but the Albertans still can't find a way to make me vote for Ralph Klein!
So, I guess that explains where some of the 20 years have gone, but I'm not sure how to account for the rest? Oh ya, we lived in St. John's Newfoundland for a couple of years in the mid-90's, where I did ecological field work for the provincial government on the island and in Labrador. Those Newfoundlanders really have their priorities straight: lots of laughter, song & dance, plenty of pubs, and work takes a back seat! Nice.
We then moved back to Edmonton so I could finish school (Hey, I think I spent too many years in school...?). Since that time, I've been working as an Endangered Species Biologist for Environment Canada, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta. It’s a nice mix spending time with the old farts in the federal government and the young, energetic students at the university, although I’m starting to feel more and more like the former as the years go by.
Hmmm what else… We’ve passed some of our time traveling - mostly to 3rd-world countries. I’m not sure why we haven’t visited many ‘developed’ countries? ...maybe we just enjoy speaking loudly, in broken Spanish or French, and only in present tense (I should have paid more attention in French class at QE), or maybe we’re just cheap – that’s just as likely.
For the last three years, after Norah’s birth, time has flown by. Having a young child is a lot of laughs but certainly keeps you busy. I don't know how you folks with 3 or 4 kids do it?! We're considering having one more ... but we might end up waiting until Norah finishes high school and moves into her own place (?).
Alright, that’s the best I can do for now. I’m still hoping that I might make it back for the reunion so I can find out what’s new with everyone. Living outside of BC, I don’t often get a chance to run into people from QE, so a visit would be fun.
