After graduation I attended the University of B.C. in the Faculty of Education. I had a double major in Physical Education and Geography with a minor in English. While attending UBC I played JV Basketball and got involved in their intramural program. UBC was a lot of fun and I met some wonderful friends there and hated to leave. I started my teaching career at Caribou Hill Secondary in Burnaby. After three years in Burnaby I transferred to the Delta School District and finished my career as a teacher there. In Delta I taught at Delview Jr. Secondary for five years before taking maternity leave to have my son Thomas in 1980. I returned to teaching when my son was 18 months old. The next 25 years of teaching were spent at Burnsview Jr. Secondary where I became Department Head in Physical Education for many years before retiring in June of 2004. I loved every minute of my years teaching and coaching. Working with teenagers and with my fellow colleagues was rewarding and honestly so much fun, it was difficult to leave. But in June of 2004 I retired up to the Okanagan where I still work with Teens as the Program Co-ordinator for the Wellness Centre Teen Volunteer Program. This year my teens,one grade 9, four grade 10's and one grade 12 spent over 50 hours volunteering in the community and helping others. They have kept me in touch with youth and made my retirement along with the beautiful Okanagan the Best !
